A Quick and Easy Way to Add Your Website to the Google Index
This Is How You Get Your Website to Appear in the Google Index Within Only a Few Days
Once you have finished your website, you may ask yourself how best to gain more new visitors.
A first and sensible step towards achieving this is to have your website added to the Google index. But how can you do this in a quick and easy fashion?
#1: Create a Google Account
The following steps towards getting your website on the Google index require you to have a Google Account. If you don't already have one, create one now.
Tip: If you already have a Gmail email address or are registered for another Google service, you automatically have a Google account. In this case you needn't register again.
#2: Register Your Website with Google Webmaster-Tools
Visit Google Webmaster-Tools and register with your Google user details.
After registering you can add your website domain to Google Webmaster-Tools. When doing so you will have to add a code to your website, so Google can verify that it is in fact your own website.
Using the help function at the top right in Webmaster-Tools you can find out exactly how to do this. You will also be able to get more information here to answer any potential questions.
#3: Wait Around 3 to 10 Days
After you have added your domain to Google Webmaster-Tools, Google has it shortlisted to be included in the index.
However it can take another couple of days before your website is actually searchable on Google. The exact amount of days can vary and depends on several factors. Normally this should not take longer than 10 days though.
#4: Check That Your Website Is Listed in Google Index
You can check whether your website appears on the Google index by simply searching it on Google. To do so just execute the following search in the Google search field: site:mydomain.com
Important: Replace "mydomain.com" with your domain name. That is the only way Google will check whether the domain is already listed.
All pages of your domain that are indexed through Google will appear in the search results. If there are no results, none of your webpages are listed in the Google index yet.
Being Listed on Google Does Not Automatically Mean That You Will Be Easily Found on Google
Now you know a quick and easy way, to include your website in the Google index.
Being included in the index does not however necessarily mean that you will be found easily through relevant keywords.
In order to be found through relevant keywords, you must specifically optimise your website for these keywords.
